In this series we’ll be looking at the cities and towns where Jesus lived, moved and taught. We’ll explore Jesus’ message within its original context, learning how the geography, culture, extra-biblical texts, political climate, and archaeological evidence helps us to better understand Jesus’ message and call.
In this six week series we’ll talk about the biblical perspective on encountering strangers. We’ll look at how people sometimes encountered angels and even God without immediately realizing it. Jesus tells us that the way we engage strangers and those in need is the way we encounter him. We’ll also talk about our identity and history as being strangers and sojourners as well as the importance of learning from the stranger.
In this message we’ll be taking a look at our dark side. Jesus didn’t come to save the world because we were doing alright on our own. No, the world is a very broken place and that brokenness is very personal. Our brokenness often results in ‘sin’. It’s easy to focus on the brokenness of the world around us, but the call to confession is a call to look within. In this message we’ll be called to an inner life of examination and better understanding the shadow side of sin, which with the power of Christ in us, we will overcome.
